This project focuses on executive coaching for pastors at risk of becoming 'stuck,' losing energy of momentum in congregational ministry. This report explores executive coaching theory, considering how working with a coach can help a pastor out of a rut and thus regain energy for ministry. It uses narrative methodology to describe the impact of coaching on two pastors in Hudson River Presbytery in order to show how coaching may benefit pastors in similar situations."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128706805137408,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:04:05.058Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:13:02Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:53:05Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"3f637593-7eb6-484c-bf52-543340fbdacc","accessControl_ssim":["a178e5e8-3bc5-4a6a-beab-3fe77a2c9beb"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["God's con-spirators: a theology of ministry for mainline pastors today"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:13:01Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:58:03Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["9b3b3f54-b44e-42e5-bea0-09dc3cdceaaa"],"hasLease_ssim":["c749c7a5-4e63-4811-9ec5-1b7a2743e5cf"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["D Cameron Murchison"],"year_tesim":["2007"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Ann P Lukens"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Clergy--Training of"],"language_tesim":["English"],"alternative_title_tesim":["God's conspirators: a theology of ministry for mainline pastors today"],"abstract_tesim":["While mainline denominations remain unsettled, committed pastors must daily decide how to go forward. This project focuses on the challenges of pastoral responsibilities and family life, using the writer's personal experiences, discussions with other pastors and literature review, thus following the descriptive methodology. The research revealed that because of the need to fulfill what is expected of them, pastors find less time for their family and personal development. It further found that spouses and children feel neglected and abandoned for church work and therefore, need more of the pastor's presence in the home. The project postulated recommendations which can serve as guide for striking the balance."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127791395143680,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:49:32.055Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:39:56Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:47:30Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1ca08b57-8a43-457f-a69c-da6d933ac349","accessControl_ssim":["7dc0d5d1-f8e4-4aa2-b3d7-87f51eea4ca5"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A team ministry leadership development course (for newly elected elders)"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:39:51Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:58:32Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["2627a4ba-b5a7-4063-91a1-044390098300"],"hasLease_ssim":["653a8ef9-316f-4fb8-9780-32fa45b8a8fe"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Sara Juengst"],"year_tesim":["1993"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Steven P Eason"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Clergy","Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A","Elders (Church officers)","Clergy--Training of"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this dissertation is to construct a training program for newly elected elders in accordance with the Book of Order (G-14.0205). This study focuses upon the elders' 'personal faith, knowledge of the doctrine, government, and discipline contained in the Constitution of the Church; and the duties of the office' (G-14.0205). Presbyterians hold the office of elder on an equal basis with the office of minister of Word and Sacrament. Based upon this equality, this training course reflects the concept of 'team ministry.' An underlying premise for the course is that a church can only be strong as its leadership. An examination is conducted of the biblical principles of leadership in both the Old and New Testaments. An exploration is undertaken of the ways in which the Presbyterian system of government embodies the principles of team ministry. Studies of the ways in which adults mature in faith are presented and analyzed. The result of the research is a five-week training course for newly elected elders. The course is applicable to any Presbyterian Church (USA) of any size at any stage of development."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127669667004416,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:47:35.966Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:10:37Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:08:32Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a3cdc7f0-7610-4411-b067-df583c9a620b","accessControl_ssim":["c5c952ff-304f-4f19-9040-fdfec5369fc2"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Common ground for God and country: enabling chaplains of various faiths to work together for the common good"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:10:37Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:53:36Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["0219475d-7ff6-4033-8770-7e4212e343b4"],"hasLease_ssim":["be9c3ba9-a5b7-430f-8513-943a8a89e05f"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Marcia Y Riggs"],"year_tesim":["2003"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Carlton Fisher"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Clergy--Training of","Chaplains"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The United States Government employs chaplains of various faith traditions.
