An intentional and systematic method of inquiry was employed in gathering information. The researcher used questionnaires and interviews to collect information. He concluded that both churches have a long history of guarding their traditions. This has resulted in conflicts. In this study, members of the Northumberland Presbytery Council were engaged in Bible study on Paul's call to unity and then introduced to conflict resolution theory.  Informed by surveys submitted by council members, the author explores how Northumberland Presbytery pursues unity in the midst of its diversity and conflict.
