This project considers whether exploring one's God-designed uniqueness -- including one's personality, intelligences, spiritual type, and spiritual temperament -- can inform personal and corporate spiritual growth. The paper incorporates a qualitative research method to help adherents explore instinctive and counterintuitive approaches -- to affirm one's innate spiritual tendencies and intentionally stretch beyond them. This paper focuses on the recovery of soul and on the care of souls in the practice of pastoral care and counseling. Research focuses on the depth psychology of Carl Gustav Jung and the gospel of John. A comparison is made between the Self, the central archetype in the psychology of Carl Jung, and the Christ presented in archetypal symbols in John. Both address the creative, dynamic, unifying center of personality; Jung does so in psychological language, John in theological/christological language.
