The author examined biblical, theological, cultural and developmental approaches to loss and grief; interviewed college students, individually and in groups; and gathered input from other college chaplains with regard to how they provide pastoral care through public worship. It examines the life of the people of Israel during the Babylonian Exile for clues as to how we are to do ministry and how we are to live a life of faith in 'exilic' times. In examining the Babylonian Exile the project discovers the importance of rituals.
