It engaged the participants in reading the Sayings critically, while also connecting the sayings to the time-tested Christian practices of humility, prayer, silence, forgiveness, and resistance."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127515278868480,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:45:08.730Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:06:21Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:59:42Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"66cd2c4a-87f2-44ed-81ff-a5de4bc55d4c","accessControl_ssim":["1f7056ef-1299-41f1-97fa-04ecd197c7e8"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Confirmation: mutant invasion: a new model for confirmation class in the twenty-first century"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:06:20Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:08:05Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["1629d48c-0edd-4a29-94b8-80622e738aa1"],"hasLease_ssim":["b99583c2-ced6-4c89-9933-3bdf55f3854f"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["David L Bartlett"],"year_tesim":["2011"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["James W McTyre"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Christian education of children","Confirmation--Reformed Church","Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)","Education"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Finding a 'right' way to teach confirmation class has been a subject of debate for Presbyterians. These new styles foster an 'entertainment culture,' thus producing Christians who have a limited knowledge of both scriptures, the salvation story, and the sacraments. This entertainment culture also nurtures superficial and passive responses to critical issues in the lives of members. The contention is that reclaiming the centrality of sacraments in worship will nurture the capacity of church members to respond more authentically and actively to issues in their lives and the social context. More specifically, it is suggested that both the preparation for and the practice of the sacraments deepens descipleship and creates a contextually relevant worship experience. A survey of Reformed theologians discusses the centrality of word and sacraments."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127857491083264,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:50:35.089Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:56:47Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:05:26Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"8e90c329-8fe6-4fa3-96e7-9701f9ac53b1","accessControl_ssim":["7574b288-b824-4c2e-8b01-49b95937751b"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Toward an American Pentecostal eucharistic theology"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:56:46Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:18:27Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["77170ecd-906a-4c85-8c37-52304339345a"],"hasLease_ssim":["2d12ffd3-6ec9-4d2c-a6e7-cbd332b722c9"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Kimberly Bracken Long"],"year_tesim":["2011"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Johnathan E Alvarado"],"keyword_tesim":["Theology, Pentecostal"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Pentecostalism","Poor and the church","Lord's Supper","Lord's Supper--History of doctrines--2000-"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["An American Pentecostal eucharistic theology has yet to be fully developed. Historic Christian traditions have been co-opted into Pentecostal Eucharist traditions for 100 years; because Pentecostalism is burgeoning all over the planet, now is the time for such a theological contribution. This thesis builds upon the work of Simon Chan by affirming and critiquing evangelicalism's theological superimposition on Pentecostalism as it pertains to eucharistic theology. Chan's model is used to suggest how Pentecostals can construct eucharistic theology germane to their context and congruent with their broader theological claims. Further, it examines epiclesis as an aspect of eucharistic theology and notes its natural intersection with Pentecostal theology as the inroad to an expanded theological dialogue. The thesis discusses the implications of an American Pentecostal eucharistic theology in light of the poor. It is argued the eucharistic meal cannot be received without considering those who have little or nothing to eat, taking into account Paul's critique of the Corinthian community's socio-economic divisions and disregard for the poor."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128795045953536,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:05:29.211Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":571,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"Dissertation","hits":8,"label":"Dissertation"},{"value":"D.Min.
