Eating, drinking, and enjoyment represent communal practices that counteract the social fragmentation of living under hegemonic bureaucracy. Central to this argument is a fresh understanding of Qoheleth that is developed out of the sage's own socio-historical context as illustrated by his use of bureaucratically and economically evocative language. Qoheleth's commendations function to re-orient the reader toward simple practices that contrast imperial values. Using rhetorical-critical and literary-critical approaches, especially the work of Mikhail Bakhtin, this thesis constructs a politically subversive lens by which to interpret Ecclesiastes."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129221069799424,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:12:15.499Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:03:58Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:12:49Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"bbb9ac7d-08a7-446d-a8ca-1c4e3fab80b2","accessControl_ssim":["ec58f7a6-8dcd-4139-8640-e9999b9f0e01"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["From volunteer to disciple: reframing ministry"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:03:58Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:32:22Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["f512e578-136a-4bef-be72-1fe5d729c6f1"],"hasLease_ssim":["43c675b8-5d52-4e2b-a1a5-2f0728a000bf"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Kathy L Dawson"],"year_tesim":["2014"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Daniel William Wiard"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Christian education--Teacher training","Sunday school teachers","Christian life","Sunday schools--Administration"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The church is contributing to the struggle to find Sunday School teachers with the perception we allowed our teaching ministry to slip into: we need just volunteers to teach.
