Research was conducted on a Lutheran definition of prayer for the Psalms, the use and role of imagination in interpreting the psalms, and on homiletic strategies tailored to the Psalms as prayer. The research method was to take surveys and observation notes throughout an intensive period of Bible classes and sermons and then again at a later date. It was assumed that it would. Materials were prepared and circulated to members of the congregation. Prior to distribution of the materials, and again afterwards, participants were asked to respond to a questionnaire in which they reported their practice of individual or household devotions. The difference in responses were then used to measure changes in attitude.
