The Mission Society informs the congregation of mission work and mission opportunities in the United States and abroad. The task of the Mission Society is to educate and challenge individuals to serve in missions wherever possible. A brief study of the congregation's constitution indicates that missions must be clearly defined as the prime purpose for the congregation's being. Further information reveals a variety of Mission Societies to accomplish that purpose. Many serve missions in concert with the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, others serve agencies apart from Synodical structure. The theological study of 'God's mission' contributes to the scriptural knowledge of the student. Students discover God's worldview and His cross-cultural churches of the first century. The project provides assistance to the pastor in carrying out his ministerial task of Word and Sacrament. It increases awareness of mission challenges within the community, the Circuit, the District and the Synod. Foreign and local missions receive the benefit of the congregation's total participation in the undertaking. By means of a critical analysis a proposed procedure for The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ghana (ELCG) Lutheran Seminary was prepared by the author.  He assessed the current student population and ELCG ordained pastors through means of tracking GPAs, personal interviews, surveys and questionnaires to discover academic and cultural needs in preparing for the pastoral ministry. Pentecostalism has been seriously penetrating among Lutheran members to the extent that some of them do not value Lutheran Divine Service.  They claim that Lutheran Divine Service is not spiritual because it is guided by the book or written materials and therefore not spiritual.  The study made a survey.  Results proved that many Lutheran members in ELCT did not understand the contents available in the hymnal. Research was conducted on a Lutheran definition of prayer for the Psalms, the use and role of imagination in interpreting the psalms, and on homiletic strategies tailored to the Psalms as prayer.  The research method was to take surveys and observation notes throughout an intensive period of Bible classes and sermons and then again at a later date. Witness, Mercy, and Life Together can be used as the framework for mission.  A combination of meetings, in depth study, and surveys of church planners.
