The training course incorporated an inductive as well as a deductive teaching approach.  The writer created a pretest and posttest questionnaire to measure whether the training course influenced seminarians to place more value on narrative preaching as a necessary medium of persuasion and to increase their skill in narrative preaching. The behavioral change targeted in this thesis was measured by two questionnaires distributed after two 'Friendship Sunday' worship services to which members of the local congregation had been encouraged to invite their 'seeker' friends.  The only difference between the first Sunday and the second was the treatment, the (ten) sermons.  The measure of success was a 10 percent increase in the number of church members who invited a 'seeker.'  By that measure the project failed.
