The researcher preached a series of thirteen sermons to a church in Toronto, Canada. The same sermon was preached to two congregations each Sunday.  In one of the services the theme was illustrated by 35mm slides; in the alternate service, the same illustration was preached without visual support. Fifty-three volunteers of Venice Bible Church, (Venice, Florida) critiqued eleven sermons.  The listeners' learning styles were assessed using the Gregorc Style Delineator.  Four preaching styles were designed to correspond to the four dominant learning styles. Thirty-eight adolescents spent ten weeks of intensive examination of biblical truth in and out of class; they then invested one week in amissions experience.  Much of the classroom experience was adapted from Josh McDowell's and Rich Van Pelt's material.  The students were pre- and post-tested, using James Fowler's Faith Development Essay Instrument. The behavioral change targeted in this thesis was measured by two questionnaires distributed after two 'Friendship Sunday' worship services to which members of the local congregation had been encouraged to invite their 'seeker' friends.  The only difference between the first Sunday and the second was the treatment, the (ten) sermons.  The measure of success was a 10 percent increase in the number of church members who invited a 'seeker.'  By that measure the project failed. A twelve-hour seminar was designed to expose participants to the various ways pertinent scriptural passages have been interpreted and to extenuating circumstances which lead to divorce.  An attitudinal test was designed and administered prior to and following the seminar.  As well, pragmatic reasons for preserving marriage, methods of counseling, and methods of teaching for attitudinal change are discussed in the thesis. The course compared research on corporate reward systems with rewards and punishments in the Bible.  Rewards are weak motivators but strong in communicating values.  Values espoused by not rewarded are not seen as valuable. Values-in-use are values that are supported by rewards whether espoused or not.  The leaders' evaluation of how well their reward system supports their espoused values did not change significantly. The thesis used to test the research question was: Increased organizational commitment results when an individual's personal meaning fits with organizational mission. The hypothesis that poststudy commitment level scores would be higher than prestudy commitment level scores was satisfied. The researcher trained a team to befriend and evangelize this target group using relational evangelism methods and larger group activities. Emphasis was given to using contemporary methods which would appeal to the audience's felt needs. At the conclusion of the research, the target group was surveyed and compared with a control group of similar people.
