The paper gives a biblical and historical overview and discusses contemporary objections to healing ministry.  It examines three settings where healing ministry is practiced. The author clarifies his theological understanding and traces through journal entries his initial experiential involvement in healing ministry.  He shares reflections/learnings which may be of value to others interested in beginning a practice of healing ministry. Among these learnings is the importance of empathic prayer and the engendering of hope.  Conveying God's care and desire for wholeness for creation is crucial.  Healing ministry should be an integral part of pastoral care ministry as well as of the congregation's life and ministry. It is pointed out that God has been active in the lives of all people.  The Old and New Testament personalities and early church fathers believed that God has never left himself without witnesses.  In the 19th and 20th centuries this idea got lost.
