The paper gives a biblical and historical overview and discusses contemporary objections to healing ministry.  It examines three settings where healing ministry is practiced. The author clarifies his theological understanding and traces through journal entries his initial experiential involvement in healing ministry.  He shares reflections/learnings which may be of value to others interested in beginning a practice of healing ministry. Among these learnings is the importance of empathic prayer and the engendering of hope.  Conveying God's care and desire for wholeness for creation is crucial.  Healing ministry should be an integral part of pastoral care ministry as well as of the congregation's life and ministry. Exegesis of New Testament teachings and miracles concludes that spiritual healing is a proper subject for education.  The curriculum contains 13 two-hour lessons making substantial use of current theories of behavior affecting physical and mental health, integrated with biblical and theological insights.
