These commonalities become appropriate considerations in the tasks of 1) pastoral psychotherapy and 2) the language of theology.  A methodology of stepwise interviews was incorporated in a qualitative study of ten 'barren' women.  This population was chosen under the assumption that the frustration of the childbearing capacity engendered in a woman who wanted to bear children a necessity to articulate and thereby resolve her loss. The results indicate, in the context of childbearing, commonalities in the use of certain metaphors, styles of speaking, types of experience, and ways of relating to oneself, others, and God. The implications of this study support the need for pastoral psychotherapists and theologians to be sensitive to the experience of women as they formulate the diagnoses, hypotheses, assumptions, metaphors, symbols, and stories of their respective tasks."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["fc8e637d-6b92-421f-936e-4844dc981265"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134863608250368,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:41:56.643Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:52:57Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:33:11Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"109c9d8c-743d-4930-bd6e-59839dccd7f3","accessControl_ssim":["fe245a8d-a661-4d2f-8eae-9406ebcca6ef"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Conflict management training in the local church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:52:56Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:36:08Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["92422b00-ef84-422d-ae02-7851f7cdeb0c"],"hasLease_ssim":["20ab6fa4-8079-4780-a54b-64497faba6ae"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Norman Shawchuck"],"year_tesim":["1986"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["David Godfrey Hultberg"],"publisher_tesim":["Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Pastoral psychology","Laity","Conflict management"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The project is an affective-cognitive model for training lay leadership in a process of conflict management. A review of the literature for father-daughter incest includes a discussion of assessment criteria, as well as a review of recovery themes: self-esteem issues, exposure of the secret, reality shaping, experience of grief, and feelings of guilt and shame.  A review of the literature for forgiveness explores the dynamic formulations of key theologians and a discussion of the themes of: empathetic blessing, acceptance and expression of self, dealing with the past, and restoration of wholeness.  A single case history of pastoral counseling is explored through the use of verbatim accounts and a q-sort instrument which validates the experience of adjustment and forgiveness. Forgiveness is discussed as operating dynamically through memory, experiences of shame connected with empathy, responsible personal stewardship, an awareness of the dynamics of the incestuous family and the therapist's self-awareness. These dynamics operate as fluid themes.  Forgiveness is seen as that dynamic force of therapy which enables movement."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["fc8e637d-6b92-421f-936e-4844dc981265"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134720314048512,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:39:39.987Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":5,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Resource Type"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"David Godfrey Hultberg","hits":1,"label":"David Godfrey Hultberg"},{"value":"Dennis Eldon Bauer","hits":1,"label":"Dennis Eldon Bauer"},{"value":"Gary R Powell","hits":1,"label":"Gary R Powell"},{"value":"Margaret McCray-Worrall","hits":1,"label":"Margaret McCray-Worrall"},{"value":"Mary C Ehrgood","hits":1,"label":"Mary C Ehrgood"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"contributor_sim","items":[],"label":"Contributor"},{"name":"keyword_sim","items":[],"label":"Keyword"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[{"value":"Pastoral psychology","hits":5,"label":"Pastoral psychology"},{"value":"Psychotherapy","hits":2,"label":"Psychotherapy"},{"value":"Case method","hits":1,"label":"Case method"},{"value":"Child psychology","hits":1,"label":"Child psychology"},{"value":"Church work with children","hits":1,"label":"Church work with children"},{"value":"Church work with prisoners","hits":1,"label":"Church work with prisoners"}],"label":"Subject"},{"name":"location_sim","items":[{"value":"United States","hits":1,"label":"United States"}],"label":"Location"},{"name":"language_sim","items":[{"value":"English","hits":5,"label":"English"}],"label":"Language"},{"name":"publisher_sim","items":[{"value":"Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary","hits":5,"label":"Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Publisher"},{"name":"date_created_sim","items":[],"label":"Date Created"},{"name":"types_sim","items":[{"value":"Text","hits":5,"label":"Text"}],"label":"Type"},{"name":"year_sim","items":[{"value":"1986","hits":2,"label":"1986"},{"value":"1991","hits":2,"label":"1991"},{"value":"1989","hits":1,"label":"1989"}],"label":"Year"},{"name":"format_sim","items":[],"label":"Format"},{"name":"member_of_collections_ssim","items":[{"value":"Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary","hits":5,"label":"Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Collections"},{"name":"degree_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":5,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Degree"},{"name":"discipline_sim","items":[],"label":"Discipline"},{"name":"degree_granting_institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary","hits":5,"label":"Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Degree Granting Institution"},{"name":"department_sim","items":[],"label":"Department"},{"name":"funder_name_sim","items":[],"label":"Funder Name"},{"name":"event_title_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Title"},{"name":"event_date_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Date"},{"name":"institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Atla RIM","hits":5,"label":"Atla RIM"}],"label":"Host Institution"}],"pages":{"current_page":1,"next_page":null,"prev_page":null,"total_pages":1,"limit_value":10,"offset_value":0,"total_count":5,"first_page?":true,"last_page?":true}}}
