Christians are called to a creative and caring partnership with God.  The aim of the study was to indicate that the concept of sabbath helps connect persons to God's purposes for creation. The course content was developed out of a study of biblical and theological foundations of mission, a review of the history of Korean overseas mission, and a survey of present understandings of mission in these same five churches.  Questionnaires administered before and after the course indicated changed attitudes toward critical issues in overseas missions policy and practice. The results of this project revealed that the teachers have a strong sense of vocation and commitment as teachers.  However, they lack self-confidence as teachers due to their inadequate training and preparation. The design included an in-depth interview with four women between the ages of forty-eight and seventy-six.  The analysis sought to identify the attachment patterns, discuss how those impacted personality, and discern if one's religious experience could modify those patterns. The British school of object relations theory, especially Fairbairn and Guntrip, shows that 'splitting,' related to the introjection of the 'bad object,' is essential to a differentiated self.  Psychopathology stems from rigidifying splits in the self.  Healing depends on release of 'bad objects' in a transformational relationship, including transference with the therapist as 'good object.' The project was based on biblical, theological, and psychological studies of spirituality, midlife, and spiritual formation, with special emphasis on Jungian perspectives, developmental psychology, and the Korean concept of han, and focusing on the issues and needs of midlife. Sixteen lay leaders participated in a four-week training course in spiritual development, followed by four weeks of trial ministry. This systematic emphasis on spiritual growth was rooted in traditions of spiritual direction, biblical mandates to seek God and exercise the spirit, and the affirmation that Christians live as members of gathering, witnessing communities. This project developed proposals for Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary and Eastern Mennonite Seminary to include stewardship of money as part of curriculum.  Counsel from five congregational groups helped design a survey questionnaire to discover what teaching on the stewardship of money is needed and desired, and its content. Responses came from 181 pastoral graduates of the two seminaries. A six-week Bible study on the epistle to the Romans was employed as a paradigmatic tool (model and story) for change. Dividing the participants into groups patterned after projected Christian locations in first-century Rome, the pastor alternately discussed Paul as a paradigm for herself, and guided the participants in discussing the epistle text.
