The study analyzes data from questionnaires returned by clergy and laity of multiple-point and small membership single-point charge churches in the Central Illinois Conference and their district superintendents.  In addition, the pastor and laity of a recently created multiple-point charge were interviewed.  This information was analyzed and presented at a clergy workshop. Seven general patterns or cultural scenes reflected how a process emerged where the generativity of the felt-meaning of the religious experience was transformed through five stages which result in symbolized re-representation of an encounter with mystery. A questionnaire format was designed to ascertain the projected levels of comfort the respondent would have concerning his/her own and his/her spouse's friendships.  Questions were also asked about perceptions of the spouse's comfort levels.  Four different types of friendship were surveyed to minimize the possibility of bias had the survey only covered cross-gender friendships. Three scales, verified in previous studies, also were used. Kendall's tau-b correlations were used on the data.  The results showed that a majority of respondents were comfortable with all the types of friendship studied. However, there was a clear reduction in comfort for cross-gender friendships and mixed-gender group friendships. Males tended to be less comfortable than females with same-gender and cross-gender friendships, with females reporting less comfort for couple and group friendships. Some presbyteries have begun experimental programs in which personnel are available to counsel clergy and their families.  These persons have no administrative functions that might influence the future career of the clergy. A survey compared members of a Presbytery with such a Pastor-to-Clergy Families program and members of a presbytery which has only an Executive Presbyter. Results failed to confirm the hypothesis. Paternal blessing is defined as the shared vital and life sustaining affirmation or confirmation of a son's worth by a significant adult male, a father or surrogate father.  Life satisfaction is defined as work satisfaction, non-father relational satisfaction, a general sense of life's meaning and completion of adolescence.
