In accepting the third step the alcoholic states that he or she has made a decision 'to turn my life and will over to the care of God as I understand Him.'  The author tested the alcoholics with Gorsuch's Adjective Check List and Justice's Family and God Survey.  The data revealed that fourteen alcoholics out of the eighty-three tested had harsh God-images. The methodology includes: a review of relevant literature; development of six hypotheses; development of a Bereavement Questionnaire; trial run of the questionnaire with Pearsonian product-moment coefficients of correlations; adaptation of the questionnaire; field distribution and return of 156 questionnaires; factor analysis of data; and evaluation of hypotheses and project.  The analysis of the data confirms five of the six hypotheses.  However, the data of bereaved parents' experience demonstrates a complexity that is not anticipated fully in the hypotheses. The sample is 89 Jesuit priests who complete a demographic data sheet, Maslach Burnout Inventory, and a Sources of Stress in Ministry Questionnaire.  Forty-three are from the rural group (experimental) and 46 are from the urban group (control).  The study tests three major research hypotheses by using the two tailed t-test for independent samples.  It finds that rural Jesuits are more emotionally exhausted and experience a greater sense of depersonalization than urban Jesuits.  There is little difference between the groups on personal accomplishment, physical symptoms, and days of illness. Rural Jesuits score higher on the critical items cluster of the Sources of Stress Indicator. This project demonstrates that a wholistic care model of teaching and pastoral counseling positively affects one's retirement maturity index score (an indicator of one's successful retirement ability), as measured by the Johnson-Gray Retirement Profile (JGRAP).  The project uses a pre-test and a post-test methodology to measure the Retirement Maturity Index (RMI) of seventy-four (74) volunteers who proceed through a retirement course.  The course introduces interventions of personal counseling and seminars.  The study finds significant changes in eleven (11) of the fifteen (15) major areas of retirement after these interventions. It develops a research instrument (the Religious Orientations Questionnaire), which is given to a population that has Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventories on file.  The clients answer essay questions on satisfaction in living, their understanding of faith, God and the helpfulness of pastoral counseling and submit follow-up questionnaires.  The project reports on discussions with the pastoral counselors of the clients and draws practical implications.  The study concludes that differing religious orientations can be documented between clients with histrionic and compulsive patterns.  Female clients of all personality groups score closer to histrionic religious patterns.  No other gender-related findings can be ascertained. It examines the influence of job needs/values on individuals by considering four work groups in a Midwest electric utility. Ideal job needs/values are compared to the present job needs/values to see what workers wanted from their ideal job.  These needs/values are correlated with the morale of these individuals and with unobtrusive measures of morale. Specific personal values and job needs/values are determined to be dominant.  Certain needs are descriptive and are met in the participants' present jobs.  Yet, these are not the needs that these individuals want their ideal job to fulfill. The program's premise is that antisocial behavior correlates with inappropriate or lack of appropriate socialization, ie, poor sense of self, irresponsibility, and insensitivity toward others.  The project designs programs to develop socialization skills and accountability.  A fourfold greater recidivism is noted in the control group which is comprised of those who are dropped for nonparticipation than in the treated group which consists of those who graduate.  The project presents six representative case studies.
