The project began because there seemed to be no real ministry being conducted in regard to the families of the incarcerated.  Through the utilization of surveys, interaction with various governmental agencies, and direct initiative to the targeted people group, it became evident that there were substantial difficulties that had to be overcome by the church, the employees of the Colorado Department of Corrections, and the families of the incarcerated for true ministry to occur. Theology is vitally important to Christian worship because it is concerned with our ideas about God. If people are not worshipping God in spirit and in truth, then they are not really worshipping God. The study includes one hundred staff nurses at a medical center in central California in which the risk of compassion fatigue was measured prior to intervention.  The intervention included eight hours of workshop and three follow-up sessions in which steps to reduce compassion fatigue were introduced. There were twenty-two participants in the intervention and every participant indicated in the post workshop measurement a significant reduction in compassion fatigue risk. Research was conducted on the topics of self-care and burnout. An examination of the Gospels had as a goal finding a model of self-care in Jesus' life. An attempt was made to reconcile the command to 'deny self' and 'to love your neighbor as yourself'. A course involving self-care techniques and examples from the life of Jesus was developed and taught to seventeen laity. This project took a select group of staff and lay-leaders meeting in small groups and facilitated the development of their emotional intelligence and spiritual maturity. At the end of the process, the participants committed to reproduce this process with a group the following semester. Learning theory and sociological dynamics helped shape the small group atmosphere. The project rendered that character formation effectively takes place in a small group setting. Twelve people from Mission Village Baptist Church were trained for one month in the subjects of evangelism, missions, and the culture and customs of Tijuana, Mexico. Then, five people spent two months making four evangelistic mission trips to Tijuana, Mexico, implementing the training they had received. The methods used in this project entailed designing an equipping and training model of evangelism to reach the non-Christians in Tijuana, Mexico. This project evolved because I have seen the collateral damage that has occurred between incumbent and emerging leaders.  It is based upon the research completed by Ron Carcucci in Leadership divided: what emerging leaders need and what might be missing.I brought together a selected group of incumbent and emerging leaders to see how the relationship gap that separates them could be reduced. I invited them to join me for an eight-session learning experience.
