Pre-skill evaluations were administered to these instructors to determine their knowledge of teaching strategies and their teaching skills.  Based on this data, the workshop was designed to increase their competence as instructors.  Approximately four weeks after the workshop the project director visited the instructors to observe them teaching their CLD classes.  All of the project participants were evaluated to determine their knowledge, values and skills relative to training adults. The role of the author was to facilitate the teams' development, providing training, assistance, and encouragement to the team building process. Leaders were selected to work with the project coordinator in formulating an initial revision. Next, small group workshops were scheduled to lead the congregation in honing the revision into its final form. The revised by-laws were then adopted by a vote of the congregation. The core of the project was the development of a training model that incorporates experiential, relational and student-centered learning. The method of this project is enlisting, training, and sending out a select group of fraternity and sorority students to initiate small group Bible studies within those students' specific Greek organizations. The project is a slice of a ten-year effort to bring organizational change to a state denomination of churches affiliated with the Dakota Southern Baptist Fellowship. The change needed was to multiply the number of churches. The primary means of accomplishing this change required the enlistment of a force of professional church planters to lead in the designing and implementing of regional strategies for the starting of new churches. This force was found in the existing positions of the Associational Missionaries. Using seven control group and seven participant churches through two seminars and a consultation process designed to equip them to lead their consultation to sponsor new work. The project objectives included understanding the role of the sponsoring church, recognizing the phases of new church development, discovering nearby new work opportunities and developing an action plan for sponsorship. This has resulted in resource-rich suburban churches having little redemptive influence on their urban neighbors. This report describes the efforts of one suburban church to begin urban ministries in an attempt to harness its resources on behalf of the city. It details the launch of three urban ministry teams with a goal ultimately to plant an urban church.
