In developing this concept, the constructs of meaning, purpose, and structure are helpful to use. The therapist then must decide which approaches are appropriate to use from their philosophical stand point as well as the needs of the family. An integrated approach to therapy is the most useful. The knowledge the pastors have regarding the occurrence of dysfunctional families inside the churches, and about the ways how this situation affects them were researched. An evaluation to identify the dysfunctional level in the families from these churches was performed. The surveyed pastors accept the existence of dysfunctional families within the Christian church, recognizing that this affects its healthy development. It is concluded that the level of dysfunction found in the Christian families was not overwhelmingly serious, but it is significant due to pernicious behavioral patterns transmitted generationally.
