It is written out of these convictions: the church is called to equip its leadership; women need training specifically designed for them; and leadership skills can and should be taught to help the church fulfill its mandates. The thesis of this work is that short-term leadership training for women will increase their effectiveness and their sense of adequacy in leadership roles. This project provides a tested curriculum series of four parts to help the local church prepare women for spiritual leadership. It is designed so that each part may be taught separately or as a series in order to train women in specific skill areas for Bible study leadership or for administrative leadership, particularly in the context of a women's ministry. This material has been used at Northwest Bible Church in Dallas, Texas, where the writer is Minister to Women. However, it is designed for use in any local church to provide equipping for women as leaders, especially in the context of ministry to other women."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131089920589824,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:41:57.774Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:27:51Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:01:36Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"c3f84ce7-41fa-4e31-be41-d24ce161f82f","accessControl_ssim":["103b718b-e827-484b-a3c8-3daf9f2235bb"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Practical direction to help resolve the church's propensity toward dysfunctionality that exacerbates and contributes to the abuse of women in the home"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:27:50Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:45:40Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["8298e019-2296-4777-860f-d355adfbb6a0"],"hasLease_ssim":["0d12192a-6ab6-415b-8584-314f28644324"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Douglas Hall"],"year_tesim":["2005"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Jean A Dimock"],"keyword_tesim":["Women (Theology)--Biblical teaching"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Women in Christianity","Church work with women","Abused women","Communities--Religious aspects"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This thesis is a systemic view of how some dysfunctions in the Christian church contribute to the abuse of women in the home, and how the Christian church is the best source for helping women be free of abuse in the church and in the home. Seventy-six million baby boomers will begin the retirement process in 2006, and, judging from the writer's research, most boomers are not ready to move into retirement, nor will they retire in the same way the previous generation did. Many boomers desire to transition into retirement -- cut back to part-time, move in and out of a variety of jobs, or even start a new business that will fulfill a dream. They are looking for significance, have a desire to 'give back,' and have serious financial concerns. Because it is heavily populated with boomers, the church is certainly going to experience a change because of this prodigious movement of retiring boomers. With adequate preparation and vision, the church is also in the position to reap Kingdom rewards by engaging the boomer in Kingdom work. This project was designed to understand the boomer woman, her needs and desires as she moves toward retirement, and also to discover ways the church can respond to the boomer and her desire to give back. The church's primary mission is carrying out the task of fulfilling the Great Commission, and the New Testament concept of discipleship is the primary focus of the church's ministry. The New Testament concept of discipleship is imitating Christ to become like Him in love, obedience, and good work; thus, the goal of the church's overall ministry is the believer's Christian maturity to the fullness of Christ. Committing one's life to Jesus Christ and faithfully following Him, and leading others to be His disciples is true Christian ministry: as practiced by women to women, this is true women's ministry. Women following Jesus Christ and becoming disciple-makers in a theology for effective ministry to women. Mobilizing women to live out that theology is the Christian practice for women in the twenty-first-century church.
