Key persons probed are Sarah Pierrepont Edwards, Gilbert Tennent, George Whitefield, and Jonathan Edwards. They are analyzed through the lens of psychological type. Sarah Pierrepont Edwards is seens as extroverted, sensing, feeling, and judging type. Gilbert Tennent fell in the category of extroverted, intuitive, feeling, and perceiving type. George Whitefield was observed to be extroverted, sensing, feeling, and perceiving type. This thesis begins with an historical analysis of Edwards and the Great Awakening, and then focuses on his Religious Affections, in particular the balance he sought between the divergent movements of his day.
