There is also a great need for pastoral leadership; this need seems to be increasing. This author, in an attempt to gain a better understanding of what is needed to lead the church within the presbytery he serves, set out to study the pastoral and leadership styles of five colleagues within the presbytery. This author solicited from each participant the biblical role models, the literature, and the people that have most greatly influenced them as a pastoral leader. The research findings reveal that the institutional leadership brought by the early British missionaries to Africa served its purpose at the time. However, as we move into the 21st century, this mode of leadership becomes inadequate for the church and Tidings of Faith. The research revealed that institutional leadership has failed to address all the questions of leadership distance between clergy and laity, that the clergy have been saddled with the work of running almost every aspect of the ministry while the laity almost always become spectators, and there has been no conscious attempt within this ministry to train laity for future leadership continuity. The researcher proposed team leadership as an effective and up-to-date option for Tidings of Faith in the years ahead. Further, there is a redemptive framework that can inform and shape this developmental process in such a way that lives are changed, transformational leaders can be multiplied, and an organization (a church congregation in this case) may be nurtured into vibrancy and health. It is the desire of this writer that this thesis-project may not only articulate a guiding philosophy of developmental process at Faith Baptist Fellowship, but also create an intentional plan and structure for reproducing transformational leaders who possess and can assert their leadership in light of the redemptive leadership framework. The process describes the journey to spiritual maturity following the model of human development from infancy to adulthood. The practice describes efforts which foster spiritual growth through a personal relationship where an older believer assists a person younger in the faith. Tremendous spiritual potential exists within many congregations in the lives of older saints to help others develop spiritually. Obstacles must be overcome to link older and younger men and thereby promote spiritual fathering. The author used a survey and a review of the medical literature to identify the obstacles and facilitators of spiritual growth during internship. Then she designed a curriculum of twelve Bible lessons which were piloted by mentor-intern pairs. Many obstacles prevented mentors and interns from adequately piloting the curriculum, although those who did use the curriculum found it very helpful. Evaluative research formed the basis of inquiry exploring 2 Corinthians 3:18, its surrounding context (3:1-7:1), Exodus 33:18-19 and Genesis 3:1-6 to form a biblical framework of creation, fall and redemption. The Transtheoretical model derived from studies of addictions and best-of-practice interviews supplied training insights. From the literature she studied historical, theological, psychological, socio-political and economic factors.  The author's field research includes a leadership survey and a related case study for peer discussion groups on a focus group of twenty-five Black Christian female respondents who are leaders or emerging leaders.  She presents a theological context of women walking in calling and potential as kings and priests unto God who practice and administer a biblical framework of social justice and fairness in their respective spheres of influence. She concludes that Black women have made great strides but there are many areas in life that continue to have only token expressions, if that, of Black women. The scripture reveals pastors need to be concerned about their preaching.  The Bible affirms mutual support and offers examples of peer mentoring.  Peer mentoring is widely used in many fields today.  From secular and Christian insights, a peer-mentoring program for preachers was designed, implemented, and tested.
