The second section of this thesis-project addresses the theological framework of miracle stories of the gospels. The third section addresses the literature reviews. The fourth section of the thesis-project is the manual itself, which addresses the practical concerns of how to prepare and deliver miracle stories of the gospels sermons. The manual found in section four is based on the principles of expository preaching developed by Haddon W. Robinson in his book Biblical preaching. What we truly think shapes our decisions and our behavior.  Over the last two decades, cognitive scientists have developed a strong body of research to argue that whenever we think about abstract concepts, such as Spiritual growth, we use metaphors to think with.  And while metaphors enable us to think about abstractions; they also shape our thinking about those abstractions. Evangelical preachers, by and large, give their listeners performance-based metaphors for thinking about their interactions with God.  Sermon applications typically emphasize 'steps to attain X'--where 'X' is the goal for that particular sermon. This activates a ladder or staircase metaphor in their listeners' thinking--a metaphor that emphasizes effort. Therefore, the preacher/pastor must include therapeutic sermons within the preaching calendar.  The purpose of this research was to focus on the necessity and the nature of preaching expository sermons that are therapeutic from biblical, theological, and historical perspectives.  The concept of therapeutic absorbency was introduced as being a necessary part of therapeutic preaching.  A defense of expository preaching as the appropriate method for preaching therapeutic sermons was also given.  The literature review integrated the contributions of authors on preaching and on preaching as it relates to pastoral care. This served as the basis for the development of a curriculum for a workshop. Methodical bible study focuses primarily on the English text, and in this study system, one learns how to observe, interpret, and apply the Bible to one's life and congregation.  In the first step of observation, the pastor must slow down to really see what is in the text.  He is trying to answer the question: what does the text say? Then comes the second step of interpretation.  Now the preacher must use what has been observed in the text and begin to discover how it relates to life.  He is trying to answer the question: what does the text mean? The third and final step is application. Here the preacher studies the information he has learned in the first two steps and must answer the question: how does this apply to the lives of the preacher and the congregation?  The preacher then uses this information from methodical bible study and integrates it as part of sermon preparation.
