Combining these techniques with the Church Growth theories of Donald Gavran and his followers, the Church developed ideas of preaching to specific niche audiences and demographic groups.  In recent years there has been considerable conversation about what it means to be missional.  This thesis-project shows that the Bible presents a model of preaching that is appropriate to every age and culture. The research became a case study which assumed an organic nature reflective of both disciple-making and the urban setting. This research describes the nature of disciple-making, the urban context, and the divine interaction with both. The non-deterministic nature of the urban context and the disciple-making process is evident throughout this study. The description and analysis of this complex interaction are presented both on a conceptual and practical level. The conceptual level is presented in the review of literature and biblical theology. These East-West partnerships face many challenges: older Mission Boards who have little local experience and firmly entrenched approaches of the Venn and Williams three-self model, cultural challenges, leadership changes, historical challeges, and financial challenges. How healthy is a partnership model? What exaclty is a partnership model? Which scriptures address a partnership model? Why will older mission strategies of the past not work in the Balkans? Are these partnerships helpful or hurtful? What is most needed to progress? These are questions addressed in this thesis. Indeed, the Missio Dei is operating in the church. The author studies the impact of the A.D. 2000 Movement's Adopt-a-People programme and diagnoses the need for unity. She contends that historically, theologically and biblically, the entire church is to be one in mission. Details of the cases were examined thoroughly, using document analysis methodology known as 'Constant Comparison' to demonstrate major themes in the change experience. The change experience of this staff was assessed using a survey tool, and then reviewed from the point of view of the theology and literature outlined in the paper. The results of the study are nine valid outcomes regarding the application of change management principles in the context of the staff studied.
