It is the author's belief that the key to the revitalization of the church, spiritual and numerical, is effective evangelism. Yet in most local churches evangelism is not taught or practiced, given little or no financial support, and in many cases discouraged by pastors and denominational hierarchy. Through this Doctor of Ministry project Pastor Tom Vencuss developed and implemented a program of evangelism designed to develop a greater understanding of, and desire to do, evangelism within a mainline congregation. The parallel and reciprocity inspiring implementation of a six-session course on our history and an international, interracial local church partnership strengthened our identity as a community of faith in both the local and global sense. The author has studied the moving procedures used by the Lake Region, Northeastern, and Allegheny East conferences.  Included in the study is the impact that moving has on the pastors, their families, and the congregations.  Following a series of interviews, case studies and discussions with a moving review process team, the conclusion was, the conferences of focus needed to develop a formal moving process, rather than informal procedures.
