The project consisted of three training sessions, and a survey given to the fifty-one congregations of the Charlotte District in the WNCC. The pastor of a UMC congregation may have a clear understanding of his or her role, but rarely to the lay members have a similar understanding. This often produces frustration and difficulties in families, churches, and communities. The project is an attempt to help participants determine their core faith and resultant beliefs to foster faith development. The intended result is to create attitudes free from fear and condescension. The approach is an integration of scripture, self-esteem, and United Methodist doctrine in a series of sessions that include lecture and discussion. The project did not produce results outside standard deviation.
