The trust or distrust between a pastor and the church often begins within the first six months of an appointment as they learn to dance with one another. Psalm 133, 1 Corinthians 12:12-31 and Philippians 1:27-2:18 all give a clear message about the importance of trust that builds unity within a faith community. The project consisted of three training sessions, and a survey given to the fifty-one congregations of the Charlotte District in the WNCC. The pastor of a UMC congregation may have a clear understanding of his or her role, but rarely to the lay members have a similar understanding. Zion Church on how they can work together in preserving the pastor's life so they will have many joyful days of ministering to the people within and outside the church. The author researched this matter through a combination of group meetings, questionnaires, and conversations with laity and clergypersons. The project ends with recommendations for Union Grove and future pastors on enhancing the pastor's health and the importance of the pastors accepting personal responsibility for maintaining their own healthy lifestyle.
