The methods used were to evaluate the praise and worship segment of the services at Great Joy and neighboring churches, engage members in seminars, workshops, and surveys, and establish a barometer for the church. The intent was to create a worship experience that is vibrant and dynamic, thereby promoting growth and evangelism. Issues addressed in the project include: 1) whether members of the local congregation have a clear understanding of the relationship between the sacrament of Holy Communion and the mission of the church, 2) whether a more complete knowledge and understanding of Holy Communion has an impact upon their perception of the church's mission, and 3) whether the way in which Holy Communion is practiced influences the way in which they attempt to fulfill the mission of the church. The object of worship is not human satisfaction, but God who created, redeemed, and sustains Creation. There are, however, certain 'effects' of worship: communion with God; fellowship with others; transformation of character; and motivation to serve.
