Church life was differentiated into three levels: Pastorally, Relationally, and Congregationally. A group of people were interviewed who had received some type of healing and their lives and were asked to share how the church community helped in the healing process. There not only seems to be less time for the service of God, but also insufficient time for the periods of personal restoration and the nurture of interpersonal relationships which permit us to be truly human.This project seeks to explore 'rest' as an essential aspect of God's gracious intention for humankind and - hence - as an integral part of an appropriate personal response to God's grace; i.e., a more enjoyable and effective life of discipleship. The 23 lessons are constructed around discipleship themes containing biblical teachings, Anabaptist writings and contemporary writings related to the theme, plus journaling exercises, a spiritual exercise and a discipling session. Christian maturation is defined as growth toward having a Spirit-filled character as described in the New Testament.  A six month course was taught in six churches and involved thirty-four people.  Pre- and post-course psychological testing instruments were used as well as questionnaires at the end of the course.  The comparison of the testing instruments' data shows a significant growth toward Christian maturity as defined by the author.
