This project will demonstrate how using a framework of strategies that has been developed and utilized by the educational system can be adapted to the worship setting creating an environment that has a significant impact on people who struggle with cognitive process issues and disorders. A survey was created and sent to all of the churches within the Lancaster Association of the United Church of Christ to see if these churches had developed a practice of radical hospitality for people with CPD and how they implement their practice. According to the results of this survey it was determined that these particular churches were struggling with the right strategies to develop their own practice of radical hospitality and as a result, people with CPD were not benefitting fully from what they were offering. By following this particular framework of strategies that has been thoroughly tested, evaluated, and reevaluated by the educational system, worship settings can provide a place where people with CPD not only feel valued, but they are embraced."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com","martins02@moravian.edu"],"_version_":1851860336151363584,"timestamp":"2025-12-18T15:27:20.159Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:26:16Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:26:19Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"04f02eab-f4ae-49e6-bf01-e0e7261c7f50","accessControl_ssim":["2464af0f-7fdf-4956-9417-a29dcb1e75f2"],"depositor_ssim":["martins02@moravian.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["martins02@moravian.edu"],"title_tesim":["An approach to intergenerational worship in the local church: A dissertation submitted to the faculty in candidacy for the degree of Doctor of Ministry"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:26:15Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:26:15Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["fa7ef095-8d6c-4619-8af4-02227a88d749"],"hasLease_ssim":["cf755216-3925-4781-9220-5c60912603b7"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["DMin"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lancaster Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["1982"],"video_embed_tesim":[""],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. For the purposes of this project, I am defining it as worship that intentionally involves in a balanced manner the entire age span ranging from preschoolers to older adults as participants in the action of Christian worship…. The particular approach to intergenerational worship in this project is not a pre-conceived liturgy or set order of worship; but rather it is an open approach that values variety and diversity in worship… This project does not propose any closed theology of intergenerational worship. The intent of the writer is to encourage experimentation and to offer some possibilities alongside other innovations in worship for children, youth, and adults. The designing of intergenerational liturgies by this writer involves thematic unity. Without a fixed order to provide a framework for the liturgies, it is important that the theme of each celebration be the thread that holds the liturgy together. It is the writer’s intent that thematic unity will be evident in the four model liturgies in this project. However, thematic unity is not intended to be a basic tenet for all intergenerational worship, and it is not dealt with extensively in this project. A theological basis for intergenerational worship and developmental awareness are dealt with more fully in this project. Theological criteria, whether those presented in this project or not, are important when one is experimenting with innovations in worship. The theological criteria in chapter two of this project are basic to this writer’s approach to intergenerational worship in the local church. Sensitivity to people of all ages is vital for an inclusive, age-balanced liturgy; and so developmental awareness is a key ingredient in this writer's work with intergenerational worship."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com","martins02@moravian.edu"],"_version_":1851860273832394752,"timestamp":"2025-12-18T15:26:20.727Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:26:07Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:26:11Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"980580ab-33a5-436d-b459-52d377727e3a","accessControl_ssim":["6a3018a0-c6b2-4c7a-91f8-6f12da7b8df7"],"depositor_ssim":["martins02@moravian.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["martins02@moravian.edu"],"title_tesim":["The development of a model planning process: for the designing of alternative worship experiences in a free church tradition"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:26:07Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:26:07Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["8f51d587-7158-413b-8af7-dd4e6a187568"],"hasLease_ssim":["4021fad7-4953-4228-aab3-e3d11d48c8a0"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["DMin"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lancaster Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["1980"],"video_embed_tesim":[""],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Three black pastors helped to create an interview protocol that could explore and define the black church tradition in the UCC. The interviews analyzed the pastor's context in ministry, authorization for ministry, Sunday morning worship practices, preaching, music, communion, baptism, special days, and printed resources used in worship. The reports reveal a remarkably consistent worship practice that reflects the black, 'rural' worship tradition of this region. A central ritual act of nearly all churches in the study is believer's baptism by immersion. Immersion matches the believer's experience of death of the old life and rebirth in Christ and parallels the Sunday morning experience of death to the old, destructive, secular world and rebirth into the beloved community of the church."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Lancaster Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["77231467-10ce-4737-858a-8cc38e70a4f9"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1851873194178248704,"timestamp":"2025-12-18T18:51:42.529Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"D.Min.
