The project design for the dissertation included nine steps: (1) Sending questionnaires to the seminary directors of field education belonging to the Association for Theological Field Education. This produced data about field education supervisors, training of supervisors, and determined specifically what films, if any, were presently available for this purpose. (2) Conducting research at the Library of Congress regarding the availability of films on pastoral supervision. (3) Surveying Association for Clinical Pastoral Education members for possible audio-visual resources. (4) Making visitation to seminaries where significant pastoral supervisor training programs were in effect. This also included the audio taping of those training programs. (5) Taking information from the author’s own training and experience, the questionnaires, the visits, and preparing a script for an orientation and training film. (6) Shooting and editing a color video film on pastoral supervisors. (7) Showing the film to a group of persons who were, or would be, pastoral supervisors. (8) Receiving and evaluating feedback from the persons viewing the film by means of a questionnaire testing instrument. (9) Preparing a dissertation report describing all of the above steps and the results."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com","martins02@moravian.edu"],"_version_":1851872726976823296,"timestamp":"2025-12-18T18:44:16.971Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-12-18T18:44:09Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T18:44:12Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"c7088bea-6944-4af7-bfe0-db1e5edd8b5b","accessControl_ssim":["62f948c9-df65-4c11-a24d-7722096c80b9"],"depositor_ssim":["martins02@moravian.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["martins02@moravian.edu"],"title_tesim":["Placement and deployment of minorities in the United Church of Christ"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-12-18T18:44:08Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T18:44:09Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ad4608c4-3ef2-40ea-aaa7-90044b406645"],"hasLease_ssim":["d751bc69-e042-4e36-8bbd-b634ef35de39"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["DMin"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lancaster Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["1975"],"video_embed_tesim":[""],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Diakonia is a service ministry that has been in existence since the early church. Throughout history, deacons and deaconesses carried out the ministry of diakonia in both the church and secular arenas. While most of our congregations in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America have different types of service ministries, most do not grasp the full understanding of diakonia. The role of the deacon in the church remains elusive to many congregations and many synods and bishops have not supported the deacons in the way pastors are supported. This project is an exploration of the total expression of the ministry of diakonia and the role of the professional deacon as it pertains to this important service ministry. The final chapter will also give resources to use for educating on diakonia, how to put diakonia into action and the role of the professional deacon."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com","martins02@moravian.edu"],"_version_":1851860340665483264,"timestamp":"2025-12-18T15:27:24.464Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:27:22Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:27:23Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"3a77ec71-015f-4e2c-b7e2-f50dbe850701","accessControl_ssim":["f24cf494-7683-4e31-97a9-9957b9e2e00d"],"depositor_ssim":["martins02@moravian.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["martins02@moravian.edu"],"title_tesim":["Once upon an agency: faith led the way"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:27:21Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:27:21Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["91a8e42d-79a8-4919-93ef-6bab1cd15f62"],"hasLease_ssim":["ae66a36e-2449-4e7d-b75d-fbd7c8952b92"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["DMin"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lancaster Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["2021"],"video_embed_tesim":[""],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. What is the story of each respective organization from its beginning until the present? What are the challenges and struggles inherent in maintaining a focus on an original organizational mission statement? How do operational pressures such as changes in funding, shifts in cultural expectations, and unforeseen events, for example a natural disaster or a pandemic, affect the living out of the mission? Interviews with participating agencies are analyzed to search for commonalities among the agencies in the study, and to discern lessons to be learned from all of the agencies together. At the same time churches are taking this transactional approach, “none” is the fastest growing religion in the United States marking the church’s ongoing decline. In their work we: a) hear from predominantly white congregations’ leaders in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, about how they and their congregations see their work with people living in poverty, b) engage in a theological dialogue with multiple researchers on what the Bible has to say about poverty in Deuteronomy, Ruth, the Prophets, and the Parables of Jesus, c) examine two current movements to get congregations out of their buildings and into their communities, d) look at the relational models that have influenced my secular work in poverty, and e) hear from two leaders in African American and Latino churches about how they engage with people living in poverty. Finally, incorporating elements from all these touchpoints, I lay out a path for church leaders to move their churches to relational models with people living in poverty, not to play the role of “Good Samaritan,” but because the church itself is in need of saving and has much to learn in and from the neighborhoods and communities it generally avoids."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com","martins02@moravian.edu"],"_version_":1851860336331718656,"timestamp":"2025-12-18T15:27:20.331Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:27:15Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:27:18Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"39303f12-8980-4392-bec2-4e9ddeae07a3","accessControl_ssim":["449d7427-cb9a-49e6-8638-0f55b5237601"],"depositor_ssim":["martins02@moravian.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["martins02@moravian.edu"],"title_tesim":["Renewing the spirit of hospice: a spiritual response to compassion fatigue in hospice workers"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:27:14Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:27:14Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["9a0c0c6f-aee0-4e5b-a40f-b07528a7f99d"],"hasLease_ssim":["a7485371-70bb-4084-9e8f-faa3f21d6224"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["DMin"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lancaster Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["2020"],"video_embed_tesim":[""],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. This project will demonstrate how using a framework of strategies that has been developed and utilized by the educational system can be adapted to the worship setting creating an environment that has a significant impact on people who struggle with cognitive process issues and disorders. A survey was created and sent to all of the churches within the Lancaster Association of the United Church of Christ to see if these churches had developed a practice of radical hospitality for people with CPD and how they implement their practice. According to the results of this survey it was determined that these particular churches were struggling with the right strategies to develop their own practice of radical hospitality and as a result, people with CPD were not benefitting fully from what they were offering. By following this particular framework of strategies that has been thoroughly tested, evaluated, and reevaluated by the educational system, worship settings can provide a place where people with CPD not only feel valued, but they are embraced."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com","martins02@moravian.edu"],"_version_":1851860336151363584,"timestamp":"2025-12-18T15:27:20.159Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:27:15Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:27:18Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"5c5815ad-5874-4195-9427-f116f408226e","accessControl_ssim":["04fa9f31-e423-4f8e-ae95-16de4ebb87ce"],"depositor_ssim":["martins02@moravian.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["martins02@moravian.edu"],"title_tesim":["Won’t you be my neighbor?: creating an interconnected onsite and online Christian community"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:27:14Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:27:14Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["14c386c7-f344-4b80-812e-aa4af2a7fc46"],"hasLease_ssim":["d2691b59-aee4-4719-b8e3-28c51195054c"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["DMin"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lancaster Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["2020"],"video_embed_tesim":[""],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Those who choose to worship remotely using the internet are often marginalized in an increasingly technological world where more and more Americans spend more and more time online. This qualitative project addresses this disconnect by evaluating the obstacles of bringing an onsite and online church community together in one “space”–where the virtual and the physical become one. Published at the height of the COVID19 pandemic with all the research and writing completed before the outbreak, this work examines how (and where) American church communities can gather as guided by our continually Creating Creator. The outcome of this project proposes that dynamic church websites can reach, welcome and include the communities surrounding existing churches, thus enabling the church to be a people far more than a place."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com","martins02@moravian.edu"],"_version_":1851860335878733824,"timestamp":"2025-12-18T15:27:19.899Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:27:15Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:27:19Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"c3ac09c3-f440-4f69-b5ed-c877e9b3bdfc","accessControl_ssim":["ee1a79f9-236e-46c5-bfa0-fb78e1c78bcd"],"depositor_ssim":["martins02@moravian.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["martins02@moravian.edu"],"title_tesim":["The spirituality of Teilhard de Chardin: transformation through group engagement in evolutionary process"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:27:14Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:27:14Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["429416de-c92f-485e-a2eb-112db09f6b7b"],"hasLease_ssim":["31bf2ccd-91fa-40a0-8c27-dd557c600a2b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["DMin"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lancaster Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["2021"],"video_embed_tesim":[""],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The pedagogical method as well as the content in the resource is based on principles of evolution, as described by Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, S.J., a Jesuit scientist of the early 20th century. This paper describes how the resource is grounded in the faith development work of James Fowler, uses the dynamics of contemplative dialogue and small group interaction, and is informed by theories of transformative learning for adults. I also demonstrate how Pierre Teilhard de Chardin’s work reflects a Process Philosophy view of God and the universe and is related to consciousness development and patterns of Christian spiritual growth, in particular, the spiritual tradition of St. Ignatius of Loyola."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com","martins02@moravian.edu"],"_version_":1851860336298164224,"timestamp":"2025-12-18T15:27:20.299Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:27:08Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:27:11Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"526bfd14-5abe-43ad-8c46-d48b5e10bb18","accessControl_ssim":["3a48edd2-ffb6-4312-8015-6f37a8ded66c"],"depositor_ssim":["martins02@moravian.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["martins02@moravian.edu"],"title_tesim":["How Christian practices are used by laypeople to attract others to the Christian faith"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:27:07Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:27:07Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["c0eadef2-14d7-4029-a276-72acb7fed2c3"],"hasLease_ssim":["025838df-0de4-4695-9e26-3dd73700c722"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["DMin"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lancaster Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["2019"],"video_embed_tesim":[""],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. These values and views have affected the way pastors, church leaders, and laypeople attempt to effectively attract millennials to the Christian faith. Lancaster, Pennsylvania, is such a community that has been affected by the constant evolving of values and views on how to attract millennials to the Christian faith. This research project attempts to bring an understanding of the religious landscape in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, regarding millennials. The project seeks to examine how Christian practices are used by millennial (age 18-35) laypeople to attract their peers to the Christian faith in the twenty-first century Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Upon attempting to answer this question, it is hoped that recognized effective strategies are found in “concrete practices that ordinary people identify within their everyday lives as contributing to their human thriving…” Humans thrive when they have an intrinsic relationship that produces a shared love of neighbor. Attractive practices used by Chrisstian millennial laypeople can produce a shared love of neighbor, making an intrinsic relationship special, special in the sense that attractive practices distinguish themselves from ordinary deep friendship based on being Godly holistic."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com","martins02@moravian.edu"],"_version_":1851860327898021888,"timestamp":"2025-12-18T15:27:12.288Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"D.Min.
