Showing the connections between religion and social justice encourages these students to have a positive understanding of religion.What effect will a six-week, small group on social justice in the Abrahamic traditions, have on their understanding and appreciation of religion as central to their ongoing formation?The group of students I worked with experienced a strong connection between religion and social justice. The project consisted of intentional education, research and analysis of the intersections of evangelism, Family Systems Theory, Reformed theology, cultural exegesis, and Christian missiology, and used these understandings to explore and analyze growing Presbyterian (PCUSA) congregations in the American West. The first part of the project was an examination of the meaning of reconciliation followed by a study of the meaning of the sacrament of Holy Communion in relation to reconciliation.  The second part was a fourteen session study with leaders of a Presbyerian congregation.  The group planned three communion services for corporate worship and surveyed the congregation following the services.
