I use the research method of autoethnography to explore and give voice to my experience. As an immigrant, I observe that my experience of my journey to become a CPE Educator has been marked with unique challenges that seemed different to the experience of those who were born and raised in the U.S.A. The manipulation of prison inmates is analyzed and presented with practical means of countering its effect on prison personnel and volunteers.  This is done using a number of psychological approaches to understand and block manipulation and is integrated into a monotheistic theological understanding.  The options presented promote the readers' protection and the inmates' positive decisional change, through everyday types of interactions. First, there is data gathered from several week-end workshops for personal change conducted by a well-known pastoral counselor. Third, the work describes suggestions for pastoral identity as a result of the data collected. The primary tool involves daily use of an imagery model outlined in Getting Well Again, (Simonton, Simonton, and Creighton) with five persons whose physical dysfunction of prolonged duration serves as an indicator of stress.  The group meets weekly for reporting and sharing for a three month period.  A pre-test and post-test procedure uses the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (Spielberger, Gorsuch, and Luschene).
