Five youth ministers test this thesis by committing to eight weeks of urban youth ministry with three hours of peer-group reflection each week. These sessions involve didactic seminars, case conferences, theological reflection, and spiritual formation. This project presents a six-week Bible study for parents in which group participants identify role models and biblical values, measuring them against formative family stories, and offer one another mutual support as Christian parents. Bible texts include Gen 1:26-31; Deut 6:4-13; Isa 46:1-13; 2 Sam 7:1-17; Lk 15:11-32; Rom 3:9-12,21-31; Gal 3:25-28; Phil 1:3-11. The project took the form of an eight-session adult Bible study course.  Through follow-up evaluative conversations, the author determined that the class achieved its goal and a further goal of being spiritually significant for participants. The author studied this thesis by locating church leaders according to Robert Kegan's personality balances and then observing their actual behavior through the process of making a key decision in the life of the local church.  He found that Kegan's theory of constructive-developmental personality was helpful in understanding the differences that were demonstrated in the various ways the church leaders envisioned, implemented, and evaluated the decision that confronted them.
