This thesis was explored using two methods of data collection: a series of case consultation meetings involving two separate clergy groups; and a survey of 228 Michigan clergy. The program was sponsored by the Northern Wisconsin District of the former American Lutheran Church.  The thesis was a response to two questions: who ministers to our clergy? where does the caregiver go to receive care?  The Mentor Project had four design facets: a mentor who was available to clergy; spiritual retreats; colleague groups; and fellowship groups.  The key to this project was the provision of mentors.  The pilot Mentor Project was a proven program which met the self-care needs of clergy participants.
