This missionary incentive is supported by the preaching ministry of the church.  Three types of sermons are suggested as best suited to support this missionary incentive, including mystagogical preaching, apologetic preaching and missional preaching.  The intended purpose is that listeners of such sermons will develop a stronger connection between their participation in the Table and what it means to be sent for mission and ministry in the world. The paper reflects reading and research in the structure and implications of mission renewal and the catechumenate.  Then the author describes and reflects upon a first year's experience with the catechumenate in his congregation.
