Included in this preaching method are the tasks and practices that make up the weekly flow of sermon preparation as well as the structure of sermons and the delivery of those sermons. In this thesis I lay out what happens when a preacher loses his or her way and how a preaching method and careful study can help a preacher to rediscover the importance and heart of the gospel. She decided to look more closely at the process that takes place between reading the text and up to the point of delivering the sermon.  She read the literature to look for different methods to increase and release creativity.  She gathered a group of respondents to listen to and afterwards discuss three of her sermons which she was to prepare using these methods.  Her goal was to see if they could tell any difference in her way of preaching before and after the usage of these methods.  After applying the different methods to her sermon preparation, the focus group could not see any difference, and the author still had her anxiety. Through personal study, conversations with people in the church, and biblical material, I have attempted to understand the characteristics of the postmodern seeker. The homiletical response to the seeker will focus upon the biblical story that God is the most important seeker. A process for enhancing creativity in sermon preparation is developed based upon a prototypical approach to Scripture, associational models of imagination and current creativity theory.  Called the Religious Imagination Spiritual Creativity exercise or RISC, this seven-step process is used by several preachers for sermon preparation and is evaluated by lay persons as to its effects on proclamation.
