Using different homiletical strategies: connecting money and mission in year one; money and mystagogy in year two; and forgoing theological connections in order to speak directly about money in year three; the author examined the advantages and challenges to each approach, and presented statistical analysis based on congregational survey results collected at the end of the series. Through data gathered in surveys and focus groups, correlated to current biblical, theological and economic thought, I outline what the gospel has to say and how the gospel might be preached in a culture of affluence so that people are receptive to hearing the message.
