The ill effects gambling might bring to the immigrants like the Korean community was enormous.  To understand what was the thought pattern of Korean community towards gambling surveys were taken, and based on these studies a few possible preventative measures as well as remedial methods were contemplated. Generally, Koreans consider gambling as a social evil, but temptation was unmistakable there.  The causes of people who gamble were investigated and plans to win the victims back were established. During these years, first-generation Koreans worked toward better socio-economic positions and lifestyles.  However, while these parents were working hard, their children grew up without much love or interest from the parents.  Two different lifestyles of the first and second generations were starting to make a wall between them.  This wall manifested itself at home and at church as separation of these two groups.  The difference in language, culture and values further separated these two groups.  The church is given the task of reconciling and restoring first and second generations' relationship and treating their wounds. The writer has begun a retreat program that can allow second-generation children to discover a new identity, and Korean language school that can improve their relationship by better understanding each other. Among them is the church which has played a central role in the settlement of Korean immigrants in the United States. Currently, there are over 2,000 Korean-American churches in the United States. Unfortunately, this rapid growth in the number of Korean-American churches does not go hand in hand with the expected level of maturity in church life. Especially, active involvement of church members is not consistent from church to church.  This study takes an approach that development of active involvement of church members is one of the most important tasks of the ministry of pastors. In order for the church to find the impediments that hinder the growth of church or laying problems between two generations for understanding one another in Korean community, the church must establish its present position in relation with and effect of its history, environment, goals, organizational structure, political and/or administrative system. As Korean youths grow up in the United States, they become Americanized, creating cultural and generational problems between them and their parents. Most problems originate from changing family roles, the generation gap, cultural problem/shock, language problems, different values, identity crises, and conflicting attitudes toward church affiliation.
