Very few resource materials are available on merging churches, and few, if any resources exist for church mergers involving White and non-White congregations. The author formulated guidelines for the process of merging through the examination and evaluation of two case studies of mergers between White and Asian American congregations, and information available through business, non-profit and church resources. The guidelines were sent to church leaders who have been involved or are currently involved in mergers between White and non-White congregations. Hunting Ridge Presbyterian Church developed a model for leadership training in our multiracial, multiethnic, multicultural congregation. This paper includes an examination of historical and contemporary attitudes toward integration.  The model for leader development assures leadership diversity and access to power by newer members.
