With the development of a multi-layered program including worship education and the formation of Worship Design Teams, members had occasions to interact more boldly with scripture, liturgy and prayer, to wrestle with how best to proclaim the gospel, and to find their own place within the faith story. A unified identity will be developed through an understanding of Baptist heritage and its unique story.  Lay people and clergy worked in harmony with each other in this process.  Two main elements directed this search: four special 'period' worship services, and an 'experimental' service (focused on a potential future worship style). In dialogical worship the individual encounters God and one's neighbor and shares his or her being with God and ones neighbor. When this worship occurs, the encounter becomes 'the communion of the saints'.  The  thesis is affirmed by examining worship from phenomenological, biblical, historical and theological points of view.  The study examines a particular congregation in which special attention was paid to what phenomenologists call the 'dialogical region'.
