Impediments to the realization of educational ministries that address these needs included the busy lifestyles of these members, the cultural perspective that de-values Christian education for adults, particularly in traditional forms, and resulting lack of confidence or interest among lay leaders to work with pastors in developing educational opportunities for adults.  Despite these impediments, the dominant ecclesial model of Hope United Church of Christ centered on the biblical metaphor 'household of God'. This metaphor related to the issue of adult education by implying that the tasks of faith development and biblical interpretation belong to clergy and laity alike, are to be undertaken communally, and are life-long.  The development of new educational ministries place the congregation primarily in the second, or 'changing' stage of the three-stage theory of change.  In this stage, I developed an intervention consisting of multiple educational series.  The first was a catechetical series for adults, the second an on-going Christian faith discussion group for adults, and the third a series for parents and children to begin to discuss the Christian faith together. The author examined the demographic and cultural complexities of the Hispanic community and the general populations' lack of accurate knowledge about Hispanics.  The author offers a biblical structure for outreach based on the Book of Ruth, promoting a model for ministry where people claim one another with courageous kindness. This results in lack of a loving relationship among her members.  The above phenomenon of DPC, the lack of a loving relationship or concern for one another is reflected in the fact that small group team ministry does not thrive in DPC.  Ideally, small group ministry would flourish and would lead to spiritual growth and revitalization at DPC.  The DPC would then be able to regain the shape of a loving community.  When spiritual growth occurs that comes from team ministry centered on thriving small groups, DPC can be revitalized to become a dynamic church with motivation for missions and service. Stumbling blocks in the way of growth include ignorance of the current state of DPC and a lack of vision concerning for the future of DPC, as well as resistance to change on the part of members.  Theological, biblical, historical, and cultural bases of small group ministry are examined in this study, as well as the positive and negative aspects of identity among Korean immigrants.  The study suggests ways to bring about change. Interventions included creation of a new shared decision making team that was representative of clinical pastoral education staff, staff chaplains, and students.  Evaluation of thesis interventions focused on assessing changes in the attitudes of staff members from early resistance to collaboration.
