With a renewed understanding of what it means to be a covenant community, members of this church have begun to find a balance in giving and receiving care and supported the implementation of a particular model for care involving the training and organization of individuals in small groups.  Interviews and focus groups assessed the results of educational objectives and the implementation of the model. This is primarily due to the lack of education of new members, parents and children.  A strong emphasis upon individual response in one's faith journey cheapens the significance and value of the covenant community.  This thesis proposes a situation in which the congregation would have a strong understanding of infant baptism, confirmation, and the covenant community. Used appropriately multiple intelligence theory offers a window into the minds of adults in the church, and can give form to the content and practices of Christian faith in ways that incarnate meaning for and with adult learners. The change process incorporated can be best articulated by James Brina Quinn's 'Logic Incrementalism.'  Theological study evolved into 'what do you do for the least of them.' The project looked at several of the components that undergird a congregation of evangelists: organizational structure, ability to name and proclaim the good news, and creation of opportunities to interact with neighbors. In-depth interviews were conducted prior to the project to ascertain the congregation's attitudes and understandings about the sacraments.  Responses to four sermons in which sacraments played an integral part were examined. A small group of parishioners gave feedback after each sermon. These interviews and surveys revealed that the sacraments have high emotional content for believers, that they stimulate memory, senses and emotion. Like music, it seeks to engage the listener, to evoke, express, and persuade.  By actually creating music as a sermonic event, the Word is proclaimed, not only by the preacher, but by all who participate in its utterance, participation which can include the entire congregation.  To study the possibilities of musical preaching and its effect on the congregation, this project was undertaken in a special, alternative worship service designed to reach non-church people.  The two preaching projects included here were one musical sermon and one service in which all of the liturgical elements were created musically as a preaching mechanism. Participation and the creation of a sense of community were primary goals.   Worshippers were interviewed following each service.
