After surveying the perceived spiritual formation needs of students in one seminary, four teaching/learning activities were designed and implemented.  Although the whole project was carried out within a period of only eight weeks, there was a favorable response to the learning experiences and some progress in the use of spiritual disciplines was revealed. The objective is to assist the adult student in approaching John Wesley's contribution to spiritual growth and help him utilize the methods and means offered.  An adult Free Methodist Sunday school class served as the field setting for a pretest inventory, three lessons, posttest inventory, and interview.  Strengths and needs from the pretest determined the lessons' focuses. The dynamics of small group Bible study are utilized to provide opportunities for spiritual growth in the lives of the participants.  The curriculum format utilizes both direct and indirect teaching methods and employs a variety of pedagogical tools including biblical exegesis, philosophical analysis, theological insights and discussion techniques to accomplish this. The curriculum, written and taught by the pastor/researcher in Spanish, followed some of John Wesley's practices. The curriculum was tested with a small group of church leaders, many of whom had never received any formalized instruction in the spiritual disciplines and the Wesleyan theological tradition. The sessions included reading on spirituality and its development in the Wesleyan tradition, small group discussions, and the practice of spiritual disciplines between sessions.
