The project director formed a strategy planning team made up of church staff and other key leaders and lay people from the church body. He conducted an analysis of ten years of membership data to determine trends in growth and retention, followed by research of existing new member assimilation strategies. Using this information, the project director, with input from the strategy planning team, developed a new member assimilation strategy for First Baptist Church Colbert Heights. The project director completed the project by meeting three main goals: (1) reserached the fields of member assimilation and multicultural ministry in order to determine skills for a multicultural context; (2) developed a training curriculum in order to equip selected members of First Baptist Church of Central Florida with assimilation skills for a multicultural context; and (3) equipped selected mmebers of First Baptist Church of Central Florida with assimilation skills for a multicultural context. Mutiple evaluation methods and tools including observation instruments, surveys, literary reserach, expert evaluators, and ministerial reflection were used to measure the achievements of the goals. The director identified not only the necessities, but also the best practices critical for inclusion in equipping seminars. The director also developed a curriculum structured to teach four equipping sessions. The director successfully completed the sessions, thereby equipping selected leaders of Macedonia Baptist Church with new member assimilation skills. The project director researched the field of new member assimilation. The research proved helpful as an annotated bibliography was developed with the various resources in the field of new member assimilation. The resources provided information for the construction of a list of best practices utilized in new member assimilation. The project director developed lesson plans and instructed the selected deacons on the key issues of new member assimilation. The selected deacons identified needs for the assimilation of new members into Bethel Baptist Church. The project director enlisted a field mentor, professional educator, and practitioner for the evaluation of different aspects of the project. The project director analyzed new member assimilation data at Eastwood Baptist Church from 2009 until 2012 and discovered a low percentage of new member assimilation. The project director researched the fields of new member assimilation and strategy development along with the biblical basis of church membership. After the research segment the project director led Eastwood Baptist Church to create a New Member Orientation Committee to assist in developing a new member orientation strategy. The project director trained the New Member Orientation Committee to understand the basics of new member orientation and to develop a strategy to improve assimilation.
