I sought to fulfill three goals in this project: first, to research the field of palliative care, with a focus upon the incarcerated; second, to develop a curriculum to equip students in palliative care skills among the incarcerated; and third, to equip upperclassmen Leavell college students with palliative care skills among the incarcerated through teaching sessions.\r\n\r\nThe methodology for implementing the project included lectures, PowerPoint \r\npresentations, group discussions of skills, role-plays, and field practicum work. \r\nDiscussion scenarios stemmed from the Louisiana State Penitentiary’s hospice program, the Mississippi State Penitentiary’s palliative care unit, and Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. I presented the material in six, sixty-minute sessions. The sessions aimed to instruct in three domains of learning: cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. I administered pretests and posttests to evaluate student learning. The project director identified the accessibility needs of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and the surrounding community with the help of church members and experts who serve people with special needs. At the same time, the project director researched and created a strategy planning process for Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Then the project director enlisted church leaders to serve on a strategy development team. the project director led the team to develop a special-needs ministry strategy designed to serve the church and reach the community. Next, the project director prepared a strategy presentation for the church with the help of the team. Finally, he presented the team's special-needs ministry strategy to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church for their adoption in regularly scheduled business meeting. The project uses teaching sessions, a seminar, case studies, group discussion, and role playing to prepare the students to implement peer grief counseling and home Bible study.  The project employs historical, experimental and descriptive research methods with two control groups and an experimental group, evaluating experimental group participants' growth in four areas.
