First, the project director researched spiritual disciplines and effective methods used in teaching children. Second, he developed a course to train selected parents in these discipleship skills. Third, he implemented the course by training selected parents.  Participants attended five sessions on selected disciplines, and they took a pre-test and post-test to aid in evaluation. The supposition of the project was that a crisis exists in North American society regarding the capacity of young adult males to develop toward authentic manhood. The project's thesis was that training young adult males in spiritual disciplines would help them progress toward spiritual maturity and authentic manhood. Through this project the director taught participants how to practice six spiritual disciplines. First, the project examines issues faced by national Guard Chemical soldiers with regard to family reintegration. Second, the project examines Army training doctrine in order to address the reintegration issues. The end goal of the project was to develop a marriage training program that takes place during a retreat format. The retreat would include many of the elements discovered during the research phase. To develop this seminar the project director had to research denominational entities, partnering churches and church plants to determine what has been successful in establishing churches. The project director used the knowledge gained to develop lessons for training the group of members of West View Baptist Church. The selected group of married couples received workshop materials, instruction on practicing family worship disciplines, sample curriculum to teach at home, as well as demonstration of families practicing family worship disciplines. The training occurred in five sessions over the course of several weeks.
