The first project ministry goal was to research the field of grief ministry in order to equip selected members of Hamilton Baptist Church to minister to persons grieving the death of a loved one. The second project ministry goal was to develop a workshop to train selected members to minister to persons grieving the death of a loved one. The third project ministry goal was to equip the selected members to minister to persons grieving the death of a loved one. The tentative project methodology included lectures, PowerPoint presentations, videotapes, music, case-studies, role-plays, and hands-on activities. Research from an annotated bibliography provided the resources for development of lesson plans in order to equip the selected group. The equipping included sessions that both explored and defined the concept of relationship-driven ministry. Deacons selected were asked to participate in three sessions equaling seven hours. These sessions included study of both Old and New Testament passages of Scripture supporting the concept of relationship-driven ministry. The director researched the field of application in preaching through reviewing the Bible, searching publications about application in preaching, consulting experts, studying sermon examples, and conducting interviews with experienced preachers. The director reflected on the use of application in preaching to find general functions and principles of application and then developed a series of sermons that demonstrated the use of applications in preaching. The result was the formulation of a functioning and practical team-equipping process that focused on risk management. The project began by researching risk management. Upon completion of the research phase, the project director developed a curriculum of complete lesson plans and teaching material consisting of four training sessions to equip the team on risk management. The participants were evaluated before, during and after the study.
