The goals of this project were (1) to research how to equip the selected group, (2) to develop a course of study that will equip the selected group, and (3) to equip the selected group to assist the pastor in counseling premarital couples.  The teaching methods administered during eight training sessions included lectures, videotapes, audiotapes, personal inventories, couple inventories, general evaluations, and homework assignments. The selected group received biblical and program materials as well as  instruction and encouragement for enlisting others to participate in an intercessory prayer group.  They also modeled prayer group sessions, which they personally lead, following participation in the workshop.  The workshop format utilized eight hours of training including and introductory session, six training sessions, and a final session addressing administration and the enlistment of participants. The project director trained and led a strategy development team composed of four Texas Baptist Student Ministry directors and two university students to develop the peer mentoring strategy.  The strategy development team and project director met together in six ninety-minute sessions. The first three sessions were devoted to demonstrating the need for a peer mentoring project with Texas Baptist Student Ministers and preparing the team to develop such a strategy.  The final three sessions focused on developing goals and objectives for each category of the strategy.  Following the sixth session, team members worked independently to complete the remaining parts of the strategy. The project director compiled and edited the final written strategy. First, the project director studied contemporary books by known church growth experts such as Thom Rainer, George Barna, Ken Hemphill, and Elmer Towns and books written by a leadership expert, John Maxwell.  Second, the project director interviewed church leaders who have helped churches transition from a plateaued church to a growing, vibrant community of believers.  Third, the project director studied the demographics of the Harbins community and the statistical data of the Ebenezer Baptist Church to compare the growth of the two entities to discover the effectiveness of the Ebenezer Baptist Church. After the research was completed, the project director developed a workshop for key leaders of the Ebenezer Baptist Church, Dacula, Georgia. A sermon evaluation form was developed through research and consultation with Hershael York, Professor of Christian Preaching at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  Six sermons were preached and then evaluated by the project director, eight congregational evaluators and four peer evaluators.
