The project involved enlisting eighteen collegiate facilitators for the training workshop.  The workshop consisted of eight sessions taught in four days.  The dates of implementation were May 22-26, 2003.  After the training, the workship and the participants were evaluated.  The project director assessed the findings by using post-tests, covenant cards, and role-playing. First, the project director will review models of strategies for planting Hispanic congregations.  The project director will then lead select members of Calvary Baptist Church to develop a strategy for planting a Hispanic congregation in Waynesboro, Mississippi.  Finally, the director will begin the early implementation process. The project director will secure a demographic report from the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board.  David Alexander, field mentor, will provide a brief synopsis providing interpretation of the demographics.  Moreover, a relationship with Gustavo Salazar, a Hispanic pastor from Laurel, Mississippi, will complement the research of this people group. The strategy will be developed through four training sessions of select members of Calvary Baptist Church.  The sessions will include an introduction to the Hispanic culture, a review of existing strategies, and a synthesis of strategy unique to the ministry field. Research results, theological doctrines, and common church practice were combined with cultural and sociological realities of homelessness to develop a congregational plan for homeless people.  Findings confirmed that homeless people benefitted in areas of discipleship, fellowship, and leadership development. The leaders were trained to accomplish these purposes by learning a transitioning process which emphasized effective teamwork.  The process of accomplishing the purpose of the project began with researching transitional approaches which have been used to transition Bible study groups into cell groups.  Research focused on transitional methods that assist in changing from existing organizational structures into new organizational structures. The next stage of the project involved developing training materials for the purpose of equipping selected leaders to transition their small groups from Bible study small groups into purpose-driven, team-based cell groups.  The materials were developed using a defined standard that is described in William R. Yount's book entitled Created to Learn.  The final stage of the project involved the recruitment and training of selected Bible study leaders.  All current Bible study leaders were invited to participate in the training process.  The selected leaders who were trained consisted of those who agreed to attend all training sessions.
